Robbie Ray Mustache/Soul Patch Variations, a Conceptual Art Piece

When Billy Ray Cyrus plays Miley Stewart’s father, Robbie Ray Stewart, he has a soul patch: When he goes in disguise as Hannah Montana’s manager, a character without a name really, except sometimes Mr. Montana, he puts on a fake mustache, which complements said soul patch: Carmine, Farris and I grew Robbie Ray mustache/soul patch combos as part of a conceptual art project called Robbie Ray Variations. We present the results of this collaborative art piece below:

Disney’s putting out one final Hannah Montana CD, Hannah Montana Forever, on October 19 and if you pre-order it, you can submit a photo of yourself that will be included on a photo mosaic poster and in a video. I obviously pre-ordered and will get one of the posters in the mail in late October.

I posted this on here already but I kinda just wanted to post it again…

I made this in Portland last year when we were there to do …Her’s A Queen as part of the TBA Festival late one night. It is me attempting to re-tell Cinderella. I’ve been reading a lot of fairy tales working on these shows and watching lots of fantastical movies, too. I theoretically had had something to drink, kinda like I did when I made an album called NM Drunkenly Listens to Phil Collins and Tells You About His Feelings a few years ago which was recently in an art show at Ditch Projects in Oregon…

Your guess is as good as mine as to why I’m mispronouncing so many things.

Another …Her’s a Queen Image

For both the Britney (...Her’s a Queen, last year at DTW) half and the Hannah Montana (Brave New Girl, Sept 29-Oct 2, 2010 at the Chocolate Factory, duh) half of this two-part epic, I’ve been very into making lots of ancillary shows and events and ephemera, partially because there’s so much that we work on or create or think of, or approaches or input from outside that never get explored fully or that doesn’t make their way in to the Final Official Show, but that I think is interesting or valid on its own.

For example, the Big C, the show of sad teenage songs that Kenny Mellman and I did the other night at Joe’s Pub, which was an attempt to think up and execute an overlapping or alternate version of Brave New Girl, based on some songs and feelings that inspired the show. I wanted to do one for ...Her’s a Queen, as I listened to the Sinead O’Connor album Universal Mother the entire time we worked on that show but didn’t do it. In general, I feel like for both these shows, Her’s a Queen and Brave New Girl, there are these ghost shows underneath: Sinead O’Connor’s Universal Mother and the Big C.

We also solicited Britney inspired YouTube videos and got wonderful things for from all over the country. And we have more. I’m going to tweet at the beginning of every performance for you to read while waiting for the show to start. I made blogs for …Her’s a Queen and for this show… Maybe I will do my endurance performance of all 149 pages of Miley’s tweets at a Chuck E Cheese. But today I wanted to share shit from our Prologue Paparazzi Parties: This image is from the Prologue Paparazzi Parties, events that served as prologues to the actual performances of …Her’s a Queen where we’d do shots and take lots and lots of pictures of ourselves and others.
